There's nothing better than being on the sidelines

And it's like no other job in broadcasting.

It's the best job in the world and one that no journalism class prepares you for.

Broadcasting classes don’t teach you the best way to ask for an interview, how to establish credibility in a locker room, the notes you should be taking during a game or how to ask a great question. It took a lot of time and many mistakes to figure things out on my own.

I've spent more than 16 years on the sidelines covering the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, WNBA and NCAA football and basketball. The only thing I would change in my career are the mistakes I made in the beginning. Ones you can avoid when you join me for a 90-minute virtual session on November 7. I'll share insights I wish I would have known from the beginning like:

  • How to establish credibility as a young professional
  • The trick to building rapport with professional athletes
  • Three things that will guarantee you get the interview you need
  • Steps to increase confidence before your first interview
  • How to ask questions after a loss

Speaking of questions I’ll also include access to the Asking Better Questions video series on TalkSportytoMe.com for no additional charge ($125 value) when you register for the Sideline Reporting 101 session.

Plus you’ll hear from professional athletes on how to ask questions that get better answers during post-game interviews and insights that help you build relationships in locker rooms. Talk about getting your money's worth! Feedback (and essentially coaching) from professional athletes is a huge bonus at the beginning of your career.

I can take the guesswork out of things that seem straightforward, but can lead to anxiety (and missed opportunities) on the sideline.

For example, I'll show you the notes I take during games that help me formulate questions for post-game interviews and share the the most impactful way to introduce yourself in a locker room.

I have a feeling we’re going to need more than 90 minutes so let’s add 30 minutes of Q&A. Block your calendars for two hours starting at 4:30pm PT/7:30ET on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
