NFL
The defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks lost for the first time this year and snapped a 12-game winning streak that went back to last season.

NCAA
No. 18 Michigan lost to No. 17 Iowa on a last-second touchdown. It was Iowa's first win at the big house since 2010 and it was especially notable because of Michigan's controversial win just a couple weeks ago against Western Michigan when the Wolverines scored on the final play of the game.

- What game did you watch most closely over the weekend?
MLB
It took until the final day of the regular season to determine the final two playoff spots. The Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies punched their ticket Sunday. The post-season begins Tuesday, headlined by the Wild Card matchup between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. It's the seventh time the rivals are meeting in the playoffs.

- The Astros finished the season with an 81-81 record. How do you feel about teams with a non-winning record making the playoffs?
- Does that mean mediocrity is being rewarded?
WNBA
The WNBA playoffs are underway. The Minnesota Lynx are the No. 1 seed. The first round is a best-of-three series. The semi-finals are a best-of-five matchup and the WNBA Finals are a best-of-seven series that starts October 17. The top-seeded Lynx and No. 3 seeded Las Vegas Aces are favored to make it to the Finals.

- The Minnesota Lynx are favored to reach the finals and trying to become the first franchise to win to five titles. They were upset in the first game of the playoffs. Do you think they can still win it all?
NBA
NBA training camps get underway across the league this week. The New York Knicks are the reigning NBA Champions but oddsmakers have the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs as pre-season favorites to win the title. The regular season starts October 20.

- How would you describe the NBA offseason given the amount of activity and movement among big name players?
NHL
The NHL regular season starts Tuesday. The defending Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes will lift their banner Tuesday night against Florida. It's the start of a slightly longer season that's been expanded from 82 to 84 games.
