Sports Conversation Starters for Your Week

Sometimes it's the smallest interactions that make the biggest difference, like saying hello or asking about a favorite team. Sports doesn't have to be your favorite conversation topic, but giving a fan a chance to talk about their favorite team or player (while you listen) is conversation gift. 

If you don't know where to start you could use this: "Which team are you paying the most attention to these days?"

A week ago the LA Dodgers were celebrating the acquisition of Tarik Skubal, this week they're trying to get back on track. The Dodgers lost seven straight games before snapping that streak. They've lost 8 of their last 10 games overall. Even with their recent slump, they still own one of the best records in the National League.

All 32 NFL teams are in action this week for preseason games. Keep an eye on rookies during the three week span of games including, No. 1 overall pick quarterback Fernando Mendoza. He could see significant playing time in the preseason with the Las Vegas Raiders.

The college football season kicks off in three weeks. Based on the Coaches Poll released last week, Ohio State enters the season as the No. 1 team, followed by Oregon at No. 2. Defending National Champion Indiana ranks No. 6 in the poll. The AP Poll will be released next week. The college football schedule starts August 29.
