It's an easy conversation starter which is why I've compiled a short list for your small talk interactions this week

The Philadelphia Eagles snapped a two game losing streak and proved they're better than the offensive numbers suggest in a win against Minnesota. Meanwhile the New York Jets remain the only winless team in the NFL and now there's a question at quarterback after Justin Fields was benched following a loss to Carolina.
NCAA
What a weekend for college football fans. All Top-25 teams were in action, including five rank-on-ranked games. There were 9 total losses by ranked teams and five teams suffered their first loss of the season, including No. 2 Miami on Friday night. The Hurricanes dropped to No. 9 in the rankings as a result.
MLB
The Los Angeles Dodgers advanced to the World Series for the 5th time in the last 9 seasons. They're in position to became the first team since the Toronto Blue Jays in 1992-93 to win back-to-back titles. The Dodgers will face either Toronto or Seattle based on the outcome of Game 7 of the ALCS Monday night. The World Series starts Friday.
NBA
The NBA season gets underway Tuesday. The Oklahoma City Thunder are the defending NBA champions. They are favored by oddsmakers to repeat with Cleveland and Denver next in line.
College Basketball
The college basketball preseason polls are out. Purdue is the No. 1 ranked men's team. UConn tops the women's preseason rankings for the first time since 2017.
NHL
Washington's Alexander Ovechkin scored his first goal of the season Friday night. He's already the all-time scorer in NHL history and now has 898 career goals.
