Sports Conversation Starters for Your Workweek

conversation starters Mar 15, 2026

Confidence in what you don't know is just as helpful in having confidence about what you do know.

For example, I am confident I don't know much about the teams in the NCAA Tournament. I haven't paid much attention to college basketball up to this point. Of course that all changes this week, but knowing what I don't know helps me level set conversations and takes away any pressure I might have felt to fake my way through a conversation.

The same is true for you. It's not your job to know everything that's happening in the world of sports it's just an entry point for small talk and making a connection. Don't be afraid of what you don't know, confidently lean in and talk sporty this week.

World Baseball Classic
